Day 5 - starting my trading journey

Okay so this is not going to be a get rich quick scheme I promise! I have genuinely been interested in trading for years, but was always put off by how complex it seemed. I think what has made it different this time, is I downloaded an app called GO Forex and it's a learning account where you can trade a £10K account, and it also has little quizzes that you answer and lessons to work through. So for the first time I feel like I am beginning to understand, rather than just having information go in one ear and out the other.

I am not rushing to use my own money, I need to spend the next month just learning all that I can learn, deciding on my strategy and building a level of consistency. Like I said in my last post, when I first opened Metatrader5 I felt sick and it put me off instantly. Then I reminded myself that it's a demo account, I can make some mistakes while I am learning, press all the buttons and just figure it out. What made it instantly better was tidying up my chart, there was too much going on and now I just keep it simple.

The same with my trading strategy I like to go long, based on the patterns I can see, set my TP and sometimes the money is made in less than a minute, other times it can take a couple hours or a whole day. Yesterday I had a whale of a time with Snapchat on GO Forex, I made so much money in like 5 minutes it was insane. I did do 10 trades with Snapchat, and I guess you could call it scalping. Again I am literally someone that has been learning for less than a week, so please don't shoot me down for using the wrong terminology.

Anyway, I say all this to say I am really enjoying learning a new skill and it is exciting. Again there is no rush to use my own money, this is just the learning stage and really understanding what I am doing and why. Next week though there is a free event I have booked to go to, it is networking with talks from some finance people and it's all about trading. I just couldn't help myself and I love a good networking event, you meet such cool people and you never know what opportunities can come from strangers.

Day 1 - £26,634

Well... where do I start? The figure above skyrocketed when I first moved out and got my own place. All of a sudden I had access to £3k+ overdrafts, £15k loans and multiple credit cards. Never did I think it wouldn't be as simple as just paying it all off month by month. Never did I think I would take a hit in my salary, redundancies, covid, a string of low paid jobs and all the rest of it. But I can honestly say that I have learnt so much over the last 8 years, about finances, debt and most importantly myself.  I have been an impulse spender, someone that never bought new clothes or shoes because every penny was accounted for bills, debts and food for the month. Today, I am someone who earns a healthy wage but that number still looms above my head and I want it gone before I am 30 which is only 2 years away.
